A local twist to the classic Shakespeare love story.
Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare. The play displays the story of two young lovers whose deaths ultimately reconcile their feuding families. In this twist, I used Secondary School students, usually aging between 13 to 16, to portray the young forbidden love Romeo & Juliet had. The young lovers struggle against public and social institutions that either explicitly or implicitly oppose the existence of their love. It emphasizes society's views of how these “kids” are too young to understand love. Especially parents in Asian countries who don’t approve of their children having a relationship while they are still studying in school.
